B. I can’t possibly respond to all your comments even though I did read them all. I did want to say thank you and your welcome for you interest in what’s going on here. I look forward to you coming back.
The posts have slowed down a bit around here because my wife and son, who is out for his regular summer stay, have had me pretty busy. Some of the best kind of busy in my book. All kinds of things on the agenda, video games, movies, skating, fishing, the pool, my back yard river with the dogs and so on. I know you guys with families understand.
Chocolate animal crackers have become my favorite snack, cheap and yummy. They are good on ice cream, dipped in peanut butter, or just by themselves as an after supper treat.
When I was looking for info on this post I found the picture of this record (plus my usual crappy photo next to that) and it selling for $90 here, http://cgi.ebay.com/THE-AVENGERS-PAINT-IT-BLACK-US-PS-45-1983-PUNK-KBD_W0QQitemZ220254141080QQcategoryZ306QQcmdZViewItem . I think this record is pretty good but man I could use that kind of money. I got it for $2.49 from the Rough Trade record store years ago and I thought that was a pretty fair price. Not a bad cover of my favorite Stones tune and the other song is alright too. Here’s what flex had to say if you care, http://www.fuzzlogic.com/flex/a/300.php . I didn’t look too hard but I really didn’t find very much. You can get these tracks and some more of their stuff here, http://www.newrapidshare.com/2008/03/avengers-avengers-1978.html
The two songs above are at 256 kb/s so I went ahead and uploaded them at 320 kb/s for you here, http://www.mediafire.com/?pzh2m34zm0d
Hi Justin, great to read about your current happy agenda! “Not a bad cover”? Well it’s much better than the original to my ears. Tho I think I must be biased cos I usually like the Stones’ covers than the originals. Anyway the Avenger’s version is better than other ones of the same song (Mo-dettes, Feelies, Anti-Nowhere League…), it has a very peculiar desperate feel that you cant find in the others (including the original). This single came out in ’83 when the LP was posthumously released…
Loved your trippy Grateful Dead post.
And now… horchata valenciana please!
Fernando
PS Mark Underground posted a great toast-reggae album by Dr Alimentado yesterday, recommended in case you don’t know him yet! Saludos
Good to read from you as always senor. La horchata esta listo. I agree, as usual with your summary of this post. Doing it I went ahead and d/l more Avengers and was kind of getting into that punky thing. Glad you like the GD post, kinda of stuck my neck out again on that one. I will be checking the Dr Alimentado post asap. Cheech and Chong will be in the mail tomorrow.
The Avenger’s cover is PHENOMENAL – and so is everything these guys & the gal touched. Check out the Flipside video – heartbreakingly good!
Excellent post Rugster! Going back to that whole PR thing is a sweet touch. Really enjoyed the cover. Enjoy your time with your boy.
This is a classic, thanks man. Have a great time with your son. I am sure he loves visiting you. Video games, fishing, skating,…, great dad, what more could you want?
Erich, any idea where one can view that Flipside video you were talking about? You’re a stud though and in case people don’t know what I’m talking about and you want some more of this awesome band, check out what Erich’s got here, http://www.goodbadmusic.com/2008/07/19/avengers-st-7ep-dangerhouse-records-usa-1977/
Match, thanx dude, I did notice that my punk section here was a little thin and needed to be thickened. I think I will do some more of the same. The boy still remembers you dude.
Sang, you will be doing the same kind of stuff with your boy before too long as well
Only just found your site through a comment you left quite a while back on an old Classified Protest post. Really like what your doing on here. Great stuff.
