Mayhem(NYC) – Rehearsal

daisy The old style Daisy BB gun my wife got me for Valentines day.  My son thought that was about the coolest gift anyone could receive on Valentines Day.

I didn’t get much of a response from my first Mayhem post so here’s another one.  I like the other live show better but this is kinda cool.  I really don’t have much to say about this one.  I did my best ripping this tape but as you can tell it is several generations down the line in tape trading.  If anyone knows anything about this band it would be cool to know, I just can’t find anything on the net.  If you like this a little bit do yourself a favor and check my other Mayhem post.

  1. NYC Mayhem is a classic. They started off as a super fast proto-death metal band, and as time passed they started sounding more hardcore. They recorded for a 7″ that never came out (many posthumous bootlegs exist though). Ex-members went on to form NYHC legends Straight Ahead.

  2. Hey Luc thanx for the info on this and Tormentor posts. I tried my usual resources, blogsearch and totally fuzzy but couldn’t find any music by this band. You wouldn’t happen to know of any links at least to the 7″ boot or any other info about this band.

  3. I asked my old lady to buy me a gun for V-day but that didn’t go over too well. Liam is right, that is the coolest v-day present ever!

  4. well there is a myspace of them(yeahyeahimprettylame) haha it has their metal stuff on it, plus it has pretty sweet shit flyers and a nice interview, i was very happy to find this blog and see that it has acouple of live shit from this band:) i only have the Cbgb recording anyways heres the link(http://www.myspace.com/mayhemnyc)

  5. This band rules !!!! they broke up circa end of 85 or beginning of 86 then they formed STRAIGHT AHEAD (early 86, february or march ???)…

3 different demos (recordings ???) are available : first is sounding very thrash METAL, second is METAL with tons of mosh parts and you can easily guess they are going to do soon hardcore !!!

Their third demo is their best work, it has been on a 7″ boot (in the early 90′s)… The music is strong and ultrafast NY hardcore, very powerful, with a lot of great & violent mosh parts !!! A classic.

There’s also a split NYC MAYHEM / STRAIGHT AHEAD LP bootleg & a CDR discography from the mid 90′s… (CDR is longer, around 70 minutes, featuring all their materials + lives…)

Several lives were available for tape traders in the mid 80′s…

I need SMEGMA recordings or infos ??? if someone can help me… It was a band with two STRAIGHT AHEAD members circa 1985. I’m not sure they record something but they practised certainly a lot as it was easy to find practise room in NY… Maybe someone saved some rehearsals on tape ???
