I got this tape at the old Toxic Shock store in Pamona in the mid 80′s. We used to go out there on record runs every once in a while and stop at this other record store that was really close by called Private Eye or something Eye, I can’t remember. That one specialized in metal while Toxic Shock was more punk. I don’t know why I got the tape but I have a feeling that the name of the band sounded cool. I wish I could have bought a lot more music from those stores but Taco Bell didn’t pay well. I only stuck around at Taco Bell for about a year because the manager and another employee were shot and killed during a robbery at the store that I sometimes worked at in North Hollywood. What was minimum wage back then, $3.25? This was pretty mellow stuff compared to what I was listening to at the time but man I played the hell out of this tape. I did pretty good on the rip but you can really tell this was a used tape. I have #19 of 200 made supposedly. The first six tunes are off of their Quincy 7″, which you can find here, http://www.7inchpunk.com/?p=201 . The sound quality is probably much better there plus you get their tune off of the Barricaded Suspects comp too. The next 4 tunes are from May 83 rehearsals and the last two are from a show at Roxanne’s in June of 83. I am posting the whole tape and at least you’ll get the second half which I haven’t seen posted anywhere, but like I said you can get the first 6 tracks from the vinyl at 7″ Inch Punk. I hope you dig a tune or two, my favorite is Jocko Macho.
Here’s the whole thing zipped up and ready to go,
Yeah!!! Jocko Macho was my favorite too. Such an accurate comment on the cooler than you punk scene or whatever other scene for that matter. This is awesome. Thanks man.
